DC Log terms of use

Dive within your training.

These terms apply to DC Log for iPhone and Mac, made by Māhanga Technologies Limited. By using DC Log you agree to them. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the app.

DC Log is not a dive computer

DC Log's dive planner, no-decompression limits, gas figures, no-fly times and other calculations are guidance for planning only. They come from published decompression models and tables, which cannot account for your health, the conditions on the day, or errors in what you enter. Always dive within your training and certification, follow your dive computer and your dive operator, and plan conservatively. Never rely on DC Log alone to decide whether a dive, or flying after diving, is safe.

Dive Watch is not an emergency service

Dive Watch texts the contacts you choose if you are not back by the time you set. It depends on your iPhone, its battery, mobile or satellite coverage, your carrier and your settings, and texts can be delayed or not delivered. It does not contact emergency services and is not a replacement for a dive plan left with someone ashore, a surface marker, or calling emergency services yourself. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (111 in New Zealand).

Your logbook

Your logbook is yours and stays on your devices and in your own iCloud. Keep backups: DC Log makes daily backups, but we cannot recover a logbook that is lost from your devices and backups.

Weather, tides and maps

Forecasts, tides and sea conditions come from third parties and can be wrong. Check official marine forecasts and local knowledge before you dive.

Fair use

Do not copy, resell or reverse-engineer DC Log, or use it to break the law.

Liability

DC Log is provided as it is. To the extent New Zealand law allows, Māhanga Technologies Limited is not liable for injury, loss or damage arising from diving or from relying on DC Log. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other law that cannot be excluded.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the latest version is always on this page. Questions: [email protected]. These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
